Is faith reasonable? And does reason, at times, demand faith? From the time of the Middle Ages to the present we have seen a seismic shift in the way society views the things of faith and the things of science. In the past the Christian faith held a dominant place within society and its institutional structures. Today secular Atheism grips our society’s popular worldview. Is it true that faith and reason are diametrically opposed, or are these two reconcilable?
In this exciting talk Andrew Wood looks at the notions of faith and reason and reason’s quest for scientific discovery. You will see faith and reason are not mutually opposed but, as Pope John Paul II famously said in his 1998 encyclical letter Fides et Ratio, “are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth.”
