The Great Adventure Bible
Through Ascension.com l have embarked on a journey to read the bible in this one year. Accompanied by a daily podcast Fr Mike Schmitz using the Great Adventure Bible reads chapter segments not book by book but history by history. The package is wonderful, the actual durability of the bible is at question as the spine is glued not stitched and pencils are the only way to highlight bulb moments. Using a plan formulated by Jeff Cavins, it is a wonderful way to see how the Old Testament fulfils the New.

A Great Catholic Bible!
This is a great Bible, not only for Catholics but for all Christians and non-Christians who wants to understand the salvation story and how the books of the Bible fit in the salvation narrative. Jeff Cavins' "The Great Adventure Bible Timeline Chart", which is integrated in this Bible, greatly helps in understanding the culture, people, and time periods throughout the Holy Scripture. The commentaries and articles help the faithful reader in understanding the bigger picture of the salvation narrative. The event call-outs are also very helpful in describing the significant events in the Bible. In addition, the Bible translation used--Revised Standard Version - 2nd Catholic Edition--is a very beautiful translation. It makes reading much easier! Since having this Bible, I became much more interested in what God's coauthors have written and have taught. This Bible has kindled the fire within me to become more literate on God's written words, especially during this age of quoting Bible texts out of their context.
