The laws of morality used to be clearly defined. The ‘philosophy of the Gospels’ used to govern the states, until an Enlightenment of freedom tried to take us beyond the limitations of morality into a new era.
Who determines morality for the masses? Who decides on the limits of conscience? Does the government legislate goodness? Do the courts enforce right-living by judge and jury? Does each individual decide for himself what is good and evil? Does the Church have the last say? Or is morality a matter of natural law, universal to mankind in all times and places... ?
